T.J. Atkins returned an interception 32 yards for a pivotal touchdown in the fourth quarter to lead Chittenango
to a 14-6 non-league win over Central-Square Friday.
Down by a point with 6 minutes, 27 seconds left in the game, Central Square had the ball, first-and-10,
at its own 25-yard line. But the Red Hawks pass attempt went into the arms of Atkins, who took it into the end zone.
Chittenango dominated time of possesion and finished with 205 yards and 168 coming on the ground. Running
back Ryan Higgins shouldered most of the work load as he totaled 118 yards on 21 carries. Scott Corp scored the Bears first
touchdown on a 6-yard run.
The Red Hawks didn't help themselves by committing five turnovers_four fumbles and the key fourth quarter
interception. Nick Corieri had 84 yards on 12 carries and Ryan Tennant rushed for 86 yards on two touches with one for 84-yard
touchdown.
